Growing up, one must have felt a sense of “home envy” from watching your favourite TV shows and movies play out in the wide, open spaces afforded by American homes. But perhaps you can get something similar here in sunny Singapore. The homeowners here certainly had their go at it with this Modern American home reno.

It’s gotten a luxe treatment or 3 with their rooms. But with plenty of real estate—and even a great room—the interiors of this home will easily let you live out those dreams of idyllic suburbia.

Now here’s something you don’t usually see in Singaporean homes. With double-storey windows and even a TV console made to look like a fireplace hearth, this area is designed to mimic the great rooms of American homes. The white walls are given visual depth through the use of shaker cabinets and light wainscoting.

The chestnut wood panel flooring keeps to the lighter palette of the home and serves to complete the look here.

With the white walls and light-coloured flooring, the double-storey windows easily keep the home generously bathed in natural light. And with double the amount of windows you’d usually get in a condo, the homeowners are treated to a great view out to the surroundings from here too.

The homeowners can even double down on the fireplace vibe here through the use of warm lighting from their centrepiece chandelier, creating the sort of cosy atmosphere that is perfect for sitting your kids down and telling them a bedtime story.

Classy, chic foyer with clever built-ins

The foyer itself is no slouch either and serves as a great way to greet guests. There is plenty of cabinet space finished with gold handles, but this place is also spruced up with some nice chinoiserie and a classic checkerboard tile flooring in white and light chestnut tones to match the rest of the home.

The red oak door is a dramatic contrast to the walls and adds just enough colour to tie the whole foyer design together. It also helps give this place the right amount of pizazz to welcome guests without being overbearing.

A living & dining area that’s perfect for hosting

The great room is not the only large open space in the area extending out of it is the equally roomy living and dining area. With the expanse of open space made here, the homeowners truly have multi-generational living space.

And whilst it’s probably nothing quite like Jay Gatsby’s parties on Long Island, you’d have more than enough space for outsized guest numbers in this home. The white walls and the comfy pastel shades of this home definitely make the whole place a lot brighter, even without the abundance of windows letting light in.

A farmhouse-style kitchen with a luxe twist

The kitchen layout is decidedly American Farmhouse, with farmhouse-style hoods and plenty of shaker cabinets. They did receive the ritzy treatment though, dressing the place up to the nines with gold handles as well as the use of beautifully grained marble on the kitchen island and backsplash.

Cabinet space is more than adequate, as demonstrated here with the dinnerware on the shelves.

The ability to conceal kitchen appliances seems to be a big deal for these homeowners, with these custom cabinet doors being capable of keeping anything from rice cookers to air fryers. It’s definitely an innovative way to keep the kitchen sleek when not in use.

Minimal Victorian-style bedrooms dripping with chic style

Sleek and simple, the size of the bedrooms is impressive and evocative of rooms found in properties overseas. They have a sleek sophistication like the living room with plenty of panelled wardrobes that help give the place a sense of visual depth. The pastel pink curtains that lead into the bathroom are adorable and really give the place a fashionable chicness.

The other bedrooms are almost as picturesque if not more so, coming with beautiful decorative touches like arched panel windows, and even a powder room with decorated chinoiserie cabinets.

A spacious, modern luxe Singapore condo with American flair

It’s not the Hamptons, but this modern American home reno definitely lets its homeowners enjoy the comforts of homes in the States without having to travel there. If anything, we’ve featured plenty of homes with a decidedly foreign flavour, from ones that are Victorian-themed to BTOs that could pass off as Tokyo apartments

This could well be a sign for you to revisit your inspo boards and take a bolder approach when making your home dreams come true.
