Goodwood Residence Condo Has 15 Units With Private Treehouse Cabanas Raised On Stilts

We’ve already covered condos with the coolest condo layouts in Singapore and the condos with the most extravagant amenities, but there’s another condo that is deserving of its own limelight. It’s none other than Goodwood Residence. At first glance, you might write it off as just another luxury project in Bukit Timah, but Goodwood Residence takes the idea to another level: a select number of its 2nd and 3rd-floor condo units coming with private treehouse cabanas that are linked to your unit via a private walkway?!?!

Here’s all there is to know about this 210-unit freehold condo near Newton MRT Station designed by WOHA and developed by GuocoLand.

Just 15 of the 210 units in this development come with their very own outdoor treehouse cabana, and these are exclusive a handful of units on the 2nd and 3rd storeys, overlooking the central courtyard and swimming pool. Each has an outdoor retreat set away from the main apartment block, with slender supports holding it up at treetop level. You can step out of your home and head straight across to your own little hideout.

Looking at the floor plan above, these extended outdoor “balconies” sit some distance from the main unit. They’re reached by a walkway that connects directly to the living room, right next to the lift lobby. From what we can tell in the photos, the walkway is uncovered.

The cabanas themselves are also fairly open to the elements. Each has one engineered-wood wall, while a cluster of vertical poles rises around and above it, providing shade in a way that resembles the thatched roof of a traditional hut.

With some outdoor furnishing or perhaps zip blinds and some air-conditioning, it’s easy to picture taking your morning coffee out here to start your day with fresh air and a view.

The shared facilities include a clubhouse, reading lounge, private function room, and pools. WOHA’s original project statement also describes tennis courts screened by planting along the arrival route. With the cabanas overlooking all this greenery, we can see why someone might be quite happy spending the weekend at home.

Higher-floor units have double-height balconies & adjustable sun screens

Even though there are only 15 cabanas, this doesn’t mean that those who like living on higher floors lose out. Apartments on the 4th to 11th storeys were designed with overlapping, double-height balconies facing towards Goodwood Hill. Those striped panels across the facade have a practical job, too. Made from aluminium, they help shade the apartments while allowing air through. Residents can open sections for a clearer view or lower them for more privacy.

The development also received a BCA Green Mark Platinum Award for harvesting rainwater for irrigation and separate chutes for recyclable and non-recyclable waste.

Goodwood Residence condo has its own private treehouse

Singapore has condos with some pretty unusual facilities, but a private walkway from your apartment to your very own treehouse is a particularly tempting one.
