Most of us are accustomed to standard, boxy apartments where every room is a predictable square or rectangle. It makes buying furniture easy, and you always know exactly where the sofa should go. But some developers in Singapore have thrown these standard blueprints out the window, creating homes with curved walls, triangular corners, and unique floor plans.
If that kind of apartment is what you’re looking for, here are 7 of the coolest condo layouts in Singapore that surprisingly make perfect sense once you step inside.
1. The Draycott

Three titanic, AAA battery-shaped towers define The Draycott, which overlooks the Orchard and Bukit Timah locales. Designed by architect Timothy Seow, each tower is 34 storeys tall, with a stunning tri-circular design that minimises sharp corners. Sitting between Stevens and Orchard MRT Stations, this condo pierces the skyline, and certainly raises the same questions within onlookers: is each unit’s layout really circular?

Well, you’d be guessing correctly, as the perfectly disc-shaped floorplan displays clearly. We’re used to the parallel walls and blocky corners of standard, boxy condos, but there are almost none in The Draycott’s many rooms, which almost resemble a sliced pie.

One might think that the circular nature might result in an inefficient layout, but the reality is anything but. Each unit is spacious and affords a unique, panoramic view of Singapore’s skyline, all through large windows that let in plenty of light. With just 132 units sized from 1,313sqft, and prices from $2,120psf, living here is an especially private and tranquil living experience.
2. Seascape @ Sentosa

Nestled between the serene waters of Sentosa Cove, Seascape @ Sentosa is a waterfront condominium with an unbeatable location next to Universal Studios Singapore and Resorts World Sentosa. Each unit takes up an entire floor, with floor areas from 2,164sqft, and has a unique boat-like layout that fits right in with its address.

The shape of each regular unit is reminiscent of a boat’s deck at first glance, as though you were living in one of the yachts docked at the marina. What’s even more fascinating is the sheer length of the unit, with the living and dining rooms at one end and bedrooms at the other.

Gaze out upon the sea from the pointed balcony, and you might just feel as though you were on board a cruise ship. Not many, if any at all, other condos in Singapore can boast such a spectacular view, even more so having a layout with such a befitting theme.
3. The Lumos

Sitting quietly atop Leonie Hill by the bustling Orchard Road belt, The Lumos is a striking 36-storey freehold condo that immediately catches the eye. The building’s structure was deliberately designed to mimic a glittering chandelier, with a central column of glass structures known as “living pods”, flanked by residential units on either side. This makes it look more like a modern art sculpture than a standard residential block.

The floor plans of The Lumos are just as unconventional as its exterior. Instead of the usual rectangular layouts, with apartments sharing common walls with their immediate neighbors, the units at The Lumos are completely detached from the central core. This arrangement allows each apartment to look like a bladed crystal of a chandelier.

Because the units pull away from the main building core, every single apartment enjoys maximum privacy and unobstructed views of the city. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow plenty of natural light to flood the living spaces, creating a bright and airy environment that feels distinctively unique.
4. St. Thomas Suites

Yet another funky condo in the Orchard area, St. Thomas Suites sports a groovy curvilinear structure that is immediately obvious from its exterior. A stone’s throw away from Somerset MRT Station, each of its two towers comprises 33 uniform floors and 88 units, capped by large penthouses.

The curvature of the walls might seem frustrating for placing furniture and buying rugs. However, these curved balconies that follow the shape of the building provide a generous outdoor area that’s just like living in a landed property, except you can be 33 floors up.

Having these angular rooms makes for more dynamic, rather than standard rectangular floorplans. Though it may seem like the space is reduced, smart furniture placement can make the room feel brighter and airier, aided by the floor-to-ceiling glass windows.
5. The Balmoral

The Balmoral is a freehold condominium known for its distinctive appearance and prime location. Completed in 1986, it is a low-rise, 13-storey development that is surrounded by an abundance of lush greenery. This condo has been often described as having a mature, old-world charm, with the unique feature of small, round balconies that contribute to its signature look.

Each unit here starts from at least 2,659sqft in size, with semi-circular balconies attached to the living areas and bedrooms. They lend a subtle European aesthetic from the outside, which suits the vintage appeal of the estate.
6. Valley Park Condo

Valley Park is a familiar sight along River Valley Road. Completed in 1997, it is a massive development with a classic 90s aesthetic known for its proximity to Great World MRT Station and a 999-year leasehold.

Though many units are built to a triangular layout, the 4-bedroom suites and penthouses have a spectacular semi-elliptical design, fronted by a balcony. Measuring in at minimally 1,540sqft up to 3,630sqft, these certainly redefine spacious living.

The expansiveness of these suites almost rivals those of landed properties, leaving lots of space to host family and friends. Perhaps this design is what has made Valley Park Condo so sought after all these years.
7. Cape Royale

Cape Royale is one of the tallest condominiums in Sentosa Cove, offering sweeping views of the South China Sea. The architecture takes inspiration from marine life, resulting in towers that have an organic, coral-like structure and design.

The luxurious Sky Villa suites in Cape Royale are a whopping 8,181sqft, and include 3 whole floors of private living space. That’s 6 bedrooms plus a master bedroom, along with a huge dining room, living room, and a monstrously large balcony.

But that’s not all: The open third floor has an extremely spacious open terrace, perfect for hosting parties, as well as a private pool that overlooks the sea. Perhaps a layout that signals the pinnacle of luxury, the Sky Villa at Cape Royale is certainly one of the coolest and most breathtaking.
