This GCB Near Botanic Gardens Looks Like A Mini National Gallery, You Can Buy It For $137.2 Million Too

All it’s missing is the patinaed copper dome.

Lermit Road GCB

The Good Class Bungalow market might have cooled off quite a fair bit. But once in a while, there comes a property like this GCB along Lermit Road that has us peons wondering what might be on the cards if we struck big in 4D.

Spanning across a land area that’s 29,818sqft, this Lermit Road GCB just hit the market for a grand total of $137.2 million. That makes it one of the most expensive homes in Singapore that is available for sale in a long, long time. Here’s a bit more about the property listed by PropNex Realty for the curious.

With a 9-figure asking price, one would expect to have both a premier piece of property and it has to be in a prime location. This GCB on Lermit Road checks both boxes.

On top of the nearly 30,000sqft land sits a freehold detached house that was built in the 1990s, so it’s still in relatively good condition. The house itself is 2 stories tall and has a total built-up area of around 10,000sqft. If you want to be precise, the house would cost you around $4,600 psf.

There is also a freeform swimming pool located on the premises so the new homeowners can go for a quick soak when the weather is hot out. A basement carpark also makes it easy to house a sizeable car collection that will no doubt comprise supercars and SUVs.

Alas, it is the facade of this Good Class Bungalow that has piqued our interest. The dense foliage shields its classical Roman-Greco architecture that makes the bungalow look like it could be an extension of the National Gallery Singapore. All that is missing from this house is a statement dome on its roof.

The bungalow also has the signature patina of copper that’s as green as the dome of the National Gallery Singapore.

Where is Lermit Road?

When it comes to Good Class Bungalow Areas, Lermit Road is one of the most private and has some of the least foot traffic despite its location. It’s located within the Cluny Park enclave and can be accessed via Nassim Road and Cluny Road. But the road itself only has 16 other GCBs, meaning that neighbours will be few and far between.

If this is your future address, you can walk to Botanic Gardens in under a minute or 2, as it’s literally on the other side of Cluny Road. And Napier MRT Station is also just 5 minutes away. Although you’ll probably have a chauffeur on call 24/7 if you can drop $137 million on a home.

Lermit Road GCB

It’s been some time since we’ve seen a Good Class Bungalow hit the market for over $100 million. The last time it happened was for a conserved black-and-white bungalow on Nassim Road just a couple of weeks ago. Either way, the number of people that can afford to even consider a home of such prestige can be counted on one hand. So for now, we’ll stick to our free entry to the National Gallery Singapore instead.

But if you were interested, this Lermit Road GCB will be sold via a private treaty sale.
