Integrated sinks from Taobao (中迪卫浴《原创设计》) can look gorgeous in photos, but feel a little risky to order. After all, they’re bulky, fragile, and not exactly easy to replace if something goes wrong. That’s why this one from @hausofhopss stood out to us. The process might not be smooth, but the final result still made the homeowner feel it was worth the stress. 

In her case, the Taobao integrated sink initially arrived broken, which meant dealing with replacements, delays, and plenty of anxiety along the way. But once it was finally installed, it ended up becoming her favourite part of the bathroom. The biggest selling point was the seamless, space-saving design, which instantly made the whole toilet look cleaner and more elevated. 

That said, she also shared a useful PSA: if you’re ordering something as fragile as a sink, stone piece, or ceramic item from Taobao, you need to be mentally prepared for possible hiccups.

After-sales service also gets a thumbs up across the board, with the seller flagged as responsive and quick to resolve issues. One buyer did mention a faint glue smell from the cabinet in the weeks after installation, so worth keeping that in mind and airing it out well before use.

2. Custom travertine dining table

A custom dining table from Taobao sounds like the kind of purchase that could either be genius or deeply stressful. For homeowner @1ricegrain, it turned out to be one of her best buys. She customised this 2.4m travertine-look dining table a year ago, communicating directly with the seller on everything from the length to the design, and ended up with a piece that looks far pricier than what she paid.

The table cost RMB1,928 ($360.60), and one of its biggest selling points is that it’s not just good-looking, but practical too. It’s easy to maintain, can be opened from both sides, and even has curved edges when fully extended, which softens the overall look a little. She also noted that it was relatively easy to fix and that two people can carry and fit the tabletop onto the legs without too much trouble.

According to the Taobao store (LUCIDO 绿树洞), the tabletop is made from imported sintered stone, which basically means it’s tougher than marble, handles heat well, and won’t stain easily. LUCIDO 绿树洞 also has 1,000+ reviews and a 4.9/5 rating on Taobao, so it’s not like you’d be taking a blind leap of faith here.

3. Smart water dispenser

Built-in water dispensers have become one of those dream kitchen upgrades for many Singaporean homeowners – until they see the price tag. Local brands can easily cost $3,000 and up, which is why homeowner Kathy Yong (@kathyyongg) decided to look elsewhere when renovating her kitchen. Her alternative is the Xiaomi Q800 smart water dispenser from Taobao store 百亿补贴官方精选 that gave her the same sleek, minimalist look for a fraction of the cost.

The unit itself cost about $520 including shipping, though she notes it can range from around $450 to $600 depending on the seller and add-ons. Installation came up to about $300 for her because wiring and drainage were needed, but simpler setups can cost around $150, bringing the total to roughly $670 to $820. 

What made it worth it was the compact design, which suited her small kitchen far better than chunkier local options. On top of that, it dispenses water at precise 1-degree temperature increments through the app, and replacement filters can be bought from the same Taobao seller without being locked into pricey subscription plans.

4. Good quality bathroom fittings

Homeowner @home.swee.home found that Taobao can actually be a solid option for bathroom fittings, provided you know what you’re looking for. 

Her haul included a towel rack ($32 + $5 shipping), bidet and holder ($24 + $1 shipping), toilet brush and holder ($17 + $2 shipping), waterproof dustbin ($14 + $3 shipping), and a row of hooks ($18 + $1 shipping). 

They’re all in a matching brushed-metal finish that made the bathroom look far more put together.

What really sold her was the price difference. While browsing local bathroom supply shops, she realised that a towel rack in the exact same design was going for around $90 locally, while the rest of the fittings were also roughly three times pricier than what she paid on Taobao. 

It’s a good reminder that for smaller hardware and accessories, Taobao’s worth considering. This is especially true if you’re trying to stretch your renovation budget without making the space look cheap.

While the links from home.swee.home are no longer active, this alternative Taobao shop, 席森卫浴, is one of the better-rated bathroom hardware shops on Taobao, with a 4.8-star rating, near-perfect scores for product quality and shipping speed, and a 98% positive rating from verified buyers.

5. Portable kitchen island

Kitchen islands are one of those things many homeowners want, but not every Singapore home has the space or renovation budget for a built-in one. That’s why this portable kitchen island customised from Taobao store 己创旗舰店  stood out to us. Instead of settling for the standard listing, homeowner @bubb.home customised hers piece by piece so it would better match her existing kitchen and actually work for the way she cooks.

The final piece cost about $350 and came with a few thoughtful tweaks: glass cabinet doors to make it feel visually lighter, no handles on the drawers for a sleeker look, wheels so it can be moved around easily, and even a custom pull-out tray for a steam oven. That last detail was especially practical. Instead of trapping hot steam under the overhead cabinets, the oven can now slide out fully during use. 

It did take around 6 to 7 weeks to arrive, and self-installation reportedly took a few hours. However, the end result feels far more functional and elevated than an off-the-shelf island.

Their pick was a 2.2m electric sofa from Taobao store caasaci卡萨驰家具旗舰店 that cost RMB7,599, which works out to roughly S$1,400 before shipping. As for freight, they shipped it together with other bulky items like a dining table, bench, chairs, and TV console, and paid about S$1,200 total for sea shipping and crating. They rated the sofa 4.5/5, saying they’ve been enjoying it so far, though they did note a small concern over long-term maintenance since they chose the white version to suit their home’s theme.

Bought by @aloofbunny for $387.14, it doubles as both a storage piece and a mini coffee station, with enough room up top for a coffee machine while still leaving space for daily bits and bobs.

The top compartments hold things like sauce trays, drinking glasses, and coffee beans. The larger sections below fit serving plates, bowls, utensils, snacks, and even bulkier appliances like a steamboat cooker and electric kettle.

It also comes in different wood tones, with optional add-ons like a pegboard and power rail for a more customised setup.

It’s not perfect though. One small drawback is that the drawers don’t come with rails, so they slide in and out without the smoothest mechanism. Still, for the price and functionality, the homeowner says it’s “still a great addition” to the home – especially if you’re after a wood piece that adds both warmth and storage.

Besides heating and wind functions to speed up the drying process, the rack also claims to kill up to 99.99% of germs and bacteria. Sizes range from 14cm to 60cm in length, and prices start at $27.08 (¥143) for a basic light.

10. Solid wood floating shelf

User @surenlowenhouse on Lemon8 also recommended another quality find: solid wood floating shelves on Taobao. The Taobao store,
爱家实木定制, offers a variety of DIY custom-sized wooden shelves with a starting price of approximately SGD 8.50 (¥46.75). The store also has a 4.8/5 rating on Taobao and there are many positive homeowner comments praising the strong and durable nature and high quality of the floating shelves for their affordable price.

They got their mosquito magnetic mesh nets from Taobao store, 比易家居旗舰店. The store has a 4.8/5 rating on Taobao and many positive reviews talking about the good quality of the product and how easy it was to install.

15. Floating dining table (BONUS)

While trawling through Taobao, we stumbled upon a statement dining table (from Taobao store 匠谷旗舰店) that looked just like the one in interior designer Roy Zhuang’s home. The clear acrylic leg creates the illusion of a “half-floating” table. And hey, if it has the seal of approval from an interior designer, it’s more than good enough for us. The store sells the same table in a range of sizes, with prices starting from $482.97 (￥2,550).
