1. Integrated sink

Integrated sinks from Taobao (中迪卫浴《原创设计》) can look gorgeous in photos, but feel a little risky to order. After all, they’re bulky, fragile, and not exactly easy to replace if something goes wrong. That’s why this one from @hausofhopss stood out to us. The process might not be smooth, but the final result still made the homeowner feel it was worth the stress.
In her case, the Taobao integrated sink initially arrived broken, which meant dealing with replacements, delays, and plenty of anxiety along the way. But once it was finally installed, it ended up becoming her favourite part of the bathroom. The biggest selling point was the seamless, space-saving design, which instantly made the whole toilet look cleaner and more elevated.
That said, she also shared a useful PSA: if you’re ordering something as fragile as a sink, stone piece, or ceramic item from Taobao, you need to be mentally prepared for possible hiccups.
Real homeowner review: “Would I say it’s worth it? Yes – but only if you’re mentally prepared for delays, replacements, and a bit of emotional (maybe $ too) damage along the way.” – Hausofhopss, Lemon8

And if you needed more convincing, the Taobao reviews back this up. Buyers consistently praise the custom sizing options and the sophisticated, well put-together finish, with several noting the colour pairing and texture detailing as standout touches.
After-sales service also gets a thumbs up across the board, with the seller flagged as responsive and quick to resolve issues. One buyer did mention a faint glue smell from the cabinet in the weeks after installation, so worth keeping that in mind and airing it out well before use.
2. Custom travertine dining table
Image adapted from: 1ricegrain via Lemon8
A custom dining table from Taobao sounds like the kind of purchase that could either be genius or deeply stressful. For homeowner @1ricegrain, it turned out to be one of her best buys. She customised this 2.4m travertine-look dining table a year ago, communicating directly with the seller on everything from the length to the design, and ended up with a piece that looks far pricier than what she paid.
The table cost RMB1,928 ($360.60), and one of its biggest selling points is that it’s not just good-looking, but practical too. It’s easy to maintain, can be opened from both sides, and even has curved edges when fully extended, which softens the overall look a little. She also noted that it was relatively easy to fix and that two people can carry and fit the tabletop onto the legs without too much trouble.
Real homeowner review: “I customised a 2.4m from Taobao a year ago – it’s one of my best purchases.” – 1ricegrain, Lemon8
According to the Taobao store (LUCIDO 绿树洞), the tabletop is made from imported sintered stone, which basically means it’s tougher than marble, handles heat well, and won’t stain easily. LUCIDO 绿树洞 also has 1,000+ reviews and a 4.9/5 rating on Taobao, so it’s not like you’d be taking a blind leap of faith here.
3. Smart water dispenser
Built-in water dispensers have become one of those dream kitchen upgrades for many Singaporean homeowners – until they see the price tag. Local brands can easily cost $3,000 and up, which is why homeowner Kathy Yong (@kathyyongg) decided to look elsewhere when renovating her kitchen. Her alternative is the Xiaomi Q800 smart water dispenser from Taobao store 百亿补贴官方精选 that gave her the same sleek, minimalist look for a fraction of the cost.
The unit itself cost about $520 including shipping, though she notes it can range from around $450 to $600 depending on the seller and add-ons. Installation came up to about $300 for her because wiring and drainage were needed, but simpler setups can cost around $150, bringing the total to roughly $670 to $820.
What made it worth it was the compact design, which suited her small kitchen far better than chunkier local options. On top of that, it dispenses water at precise 1-degree temperature increments through the app, and replacement filters can be bought from the same Taobao seller without being locked into pricey subscription plans.
Real homeowner review: “If you’re looking for a cheaper, smart, space-saving alternative to Wells / other brands, this is 100% worth considering.” – Kathy Yong, Lemon8
Note: The link above is to the same product but a different seller from the one Kathy used.
4. Good quality bathroom fittings
Homeowner @home.swee.home found that Taobao can actually be a solid option for bathroom fittings, provided you know what you’re looking for.
Her haul included a towel rack ($32 + $5 shipping), bidet and holder ($24 + $1 shipping), toilet brush and holder ($17 + $2 shipping), waterproof dustbin ($14 + $3 shipping), and a row of hooks ($18 + $1 shipping).
They’re all in a matching brushed-metal finish that made the bathroom look far more put together.
What really sold her was the price difference. While browsing local bathroom supply shops, she realised that a towel rack in the exact same design was going for around $90 locally, while the rest of the fittings were also roughly three times pricier than what she paid on Taobao.
It’s a good reminder that for smaller hardware and accessories, Taobao’s worth considering. This is especially true if you’re trying to stretch your renovation budget without making the space look cheap.
Real homeowner review: “Very very pleased with this batch of Taobao purchases!! Got these super good quality bathroom fittings at a very reasonable price!” – @home.swee.home, Lemon8
While the links from home.swee.home are no longer active, this alternative Taobao shop, 席森卫浴, is one of the better-rated bathroom hardware shops on Taobao, with a 4.8-star rating, near-perfect scores for product quality and shipping speed, and a 98% positive rating from verified buyers.
5. Portable kitchen island
Kitchen islands are one of those things many homeowners want, but not every Singapore home has the space or renovation budget for a built-in one. That’s why this portable kitchen island customised from Taobao store 己创旗舰店 stood out to us. Instead of settling for the standard listing, homeowner @bubb.home customised hers piece by piece so it would better match her existing kitchen and actually work for the way she cooks.
The final piece cost about $350 and came with a few thoughtful tweaks: glass cabinet doors to make it feel visually lighter, no handles on the drawers for a sleeker look, wheels so it can be moved around easily, and even a custom pull-out tray for a steam oven. That last detail was especially practical. Instead of trapping hot steam under the overhead cabinets, the oven can now slide out fully during use.
It did take around 6 to 7 weeks to arrive, and self-installation reportedly took a few hours. However, the end result feels far more functional and elevated than an off-the-shelf island.
Real homeowner review: “When it finally arrived – ✨I love it 😍 but needs self-installation so it can take 3-5 hours to build it up with no proper installation manual.” – @Bubb.home, Lemon8
6. Electric sofa
An electric sofa might sound like one of those extra, slightly bougie purchases you don’t really need – until you realise how hard it is to find one locally that’s both the right size and not wildly overpriced. That was exactly the case for homeowner @helloitsme, who said similar sets sold in Singapore were either too expensive or too bulky for their hall.
An actual customer image of the sofa ordered from the same store.
Their pick was a 2.2m electric sofa from Taobao store caasaci卡萨驰家具旗舰店 that cost RMB7,599, which works out to roughly S$1,400 before shipping. As for freight, they shipped it together with other bulky items like a dining table, bench, chairs, and TV console, and paid about S$1,200 total for sea shipping and crating. They rated the sofa 4.5/5, saying they’ve been enjoying it so far, though they did note a small concern over long-term maintenance since they chose the white version to suit their home’s theme.
Real homeowner review: “We love our electric sofa! Similar set sold locally are either too expensive or too big for our hall, that’s why we decide to buy from Taobao.” – @helloitsme, Lemon8
7. Cherry wood sideboard
If you’re the kind of homeowner who loves warm wood tones and furniture that actually works hard, this cherry wood sideboard from Taobao store 永和美记家居馆 is a pretty solid Taobao find. Bought by @aloofbunny for $387.14, it doubles as both a storage piece and a mini coffee station, with enough room up top for a coffee machine while still leaving space for daily bits and bobs.
The top compartments hold things like sauce trays, drinking glasses, and coffee beans. The larger sections below fit serving plates, bowls, utensils, snacks, and even bulkier appliances like a steamboat cooker and electric kettle.
It also comes in different wood tones, with optional add-ons like a pegboard and power rail for a more customised setup.
It’s not perfect though. One small drawback is that the drawers don’t come with rails, so they slide in and out without the smoothest mechanism. Still, for the price and functionality, the homeowner says it’s “still a great addition” to the home – especially if you’re after a wood piece that adds both warmth and storage.
Real homeowner review: “We can’t recommend this cherry wood sideboard enough! If you’re a nature or wood lover like us, you’ll absolutely fall in love with its design.” – aloofbunny, Lemon8
8. Steigen dupe automated laundry rack from $105
Actual customer pictures of the Taobao automated laundry rack.

Monsoon season in Singapore usually means musty clothes that take forever to dry. To combat this, many savvy homeowners now own dryers and automated laundry racks that help speed up the drying process. The tried-and-true Steigen brand remains the gold standard for automated laundry racks, but this Taobao alternative from 国货严选旗舰, priced at ¥575 (~$105) works just as well.
The automated laundry rack can be controlled via remote, voice commands, or an app depending on the model you choose. Besides heating and wind functions to speed up the drying process, the rack also claims to kill up to 99.99% of germs and bacteria. Based on the current customer reviews on Taobao, many homeowners have praised the quick and efficient drying, with one reviewer highlighting how the heating function makes clothes dry “toasty.”

Real homeowner review: “[This was] definitely one of my best reno buys! My service yard does not get any sun, so this automated laundry system is a lifesaver. I personally love the heating functions, which make my clothes dry and toasty!” – @townerhouse on Lemon8
9. Boba wall lamp
“Boba” wall lamps have been trending recently, and we’ve spotted them in the homes of some of our most stylish friends. While minimalist, the unexpected shape of these boba lamps helps add a touch of visual interest even when the rest of the room is kept simple.
Real homeowner review: [I] fell in love with this design while looking for home inspo on Pinterest and Instagram, but unfortunately, […] regular lighting shops at Balestier [and] Ubi, [as well as] IKEA, didn’t carry this [then]. We mustered our courage to purchase [this] from Taobao, and [we have] no regrets! – @surenlowenhouse on Lemon8
While boba wall lamps were hard to find back in 2023, when @surenlowenhouse first posted about it, the style has now become quite accessible. Priced at ¥240 ($~44.19) per lamp, the 11cm boba wall lamp pictured in @surenlowenhouse’s posts is no longer for sale, but you’ll find very similar options available at this other Taobao store (灯窝旗舰店). Sizes range from 14cm to 60cm in length, and prices start at $27.08 (¥143) for a basic light.
10. Solid wood floating shelf
User @surenlowenhouse on Lemon8 also recommended another quality find: solid wood floating shelves on Taobao. The Taobao store,
爱家实木定制, offers a variety of DIY custom-sized wooden shelves with a starting price of approximately SGD 8.50 (¥46.75). The store also has a 4.8/5 rating on Taobao and there are many positive homeowner comments praising the strong and durable nature and high quality of the floating shelves for their affordable price.
Real homeowner review: “Customising shelves with your ID can be super expensive, and local options are limited in length, design, and materials. IKEA only carried certain designs of very specific lengths, while live wood planks were pricey with length limitations.
However, we were able to find solid wood planks on Taobao that came in the length that we wanted [and] could be mounted invisibly.” – @surenlowenhouse on Lemon8
11. Magnetic mosquito mesh
Mosquito meshes come in so clutch, especially in Singapore, where mozzies are terrorising us everywhere, even at home. But instead of paying thousands of dollars getting local vendors to install their insect mesh, homeowners @bubb.home turned to Taobao to find a more affordable alternative.
They got their mosquito magnetic mesh nets from Taobao store, 比易家居旗舰店. The store has a 4.8/5 rating on Taobao and many positive reviews talking about the good quality of the product and how easy it was to install.
Real homeowner review: “We were so afraid of opening our windows because we [didn’t] want to invite unwanted pests into our house. We went to several local vendors to ask for quotes, and all amounted to at least $2k for all our windows. It was beyond our budget, so we decided to find [magnetic mosquito meshes] from Taobao.” – @bubb.home on Lemon8
According to @bubb.home, you can message the seller with photos of your windows and let them decide how many mesh panels you’ll need. From there, you can choose your preferred mesh material and configuration, and then measure your windows with the seller’s guidance.
12. Barsetto coffee machine
Who knew it was possible to get good espresso machines from Taobao? Lemon8 user @yeohaus.myhaus bought a Barsetto Bae 02 coffee machine from Taobao store barsetto电器旗舰店 in 2023, and it seems that the machine has served them well since.
Real homeowner review: “An espresso machine with a grinder can easily set you back an average of $1,300. This model only costs $600 and it comes with a milk frothing wand and grinder. [It’s very easy to tweak the grind size, grind amount, as well as the pressure. [The] features are easy to use; no fancy Chinese [knowledge] needed.” – @yeohaus.myhaus on Lemon8
13. Dehumidifier under $150
A dehumidifier is another must-have, especially during the rainy season. Besides removing excess moisture from the air, a dehumidifier can also help speed up the process of drying clothes. Plus, wicking moisture from the air means decreasing the chances of mould growing on your walls.
Homeowner, Rachel, purchased her dehumidifier from Taobao store 松京旗舰店, and had absolutely no regrets.
Real homeowner review: “I’ve had this dehumidifier from Taobao for two years now. Although it’s not the quietest, it’s very good at sucking moisture from the air and has a capacity of 2L, so I don’t have to empty it that often. Plus, it was less than $150, much cheaper than what you’d find on Shopee.” – Rachel, 35
14. Real stone coffee table
If it’s made of real stone, it’s surely going to cost you an arm and a leg. But not on Taobao! Homeowner @xinpx on Lemon8 has purchased a slew of things from Taobao, and one of her most raved about buys is her real stone coffee table. While not the exact same store, you’ll find many stores on Taobao like 新起点 家具, that sell real stone tables that are sturdy and beautiful.
15. Floating dining table (BONUS)
While trawling through Taobao, we stumbled upon a statement dining table (from Taobao store 匠谷旗舰店) that looked just like the one in interior designer Roy Zhuang’s home. The clear acrylic leg creates the illusion of a “half-floating” table. And hey, if it has the seal of approval from an interior designer, it’s more than good enough for us. The store sells the same table in a range of sizes, with prices starting from $482.97 (¥2,550).
The designer further customised the table by adding a potted plant, but if we’re being honest, the “plain” version is already stunning enough.
