IKEA might be known as a furniture store, but they’re not one to shy away from collaborations with cool brands like LEGO, Adidas, and more recently, Swedish House Mafia. Their latest partnership with the house music supergroup makes total sense, considering both IKEA and Swedish House Mafia are, well, Swedish.
Named “OBEGRÄNSAD” which translates into “unlimited” in Swedish, the collection is a dream come true for music lovers from fans to producers. The trio from Swedish House Mafia – Sebastian Ingrosso, Axwell, and Steve Angello – also approached the collection’s design to benefit up-and-coming musicians in their creative journey.

“Since we were kids, we have valued IKEA’s approach of making things affordable and available for a lot of people,” the supergroup said in a statement. “We used to find a creative way to make IKEA furniture to accommodate our teenage lives as creatives, so the collaboration’s purpose was formed around our own personal journey in life.”
There will be over 20 items in the OBEGRÄNSAD collection from tables to chairs, laptop stands to slippers, all of which come in a chic, minimalistic shade of black. To help narrow down your selection, here are the 10 best things to buy from the IKEA & Swedish House Mafia OBEGRÄNSAD collection that will be out in stores on 27th October 2022.
1. OBEGRÄNSAD Record Player

First up on our wishlist is the OBEGRÄNSAD Record Player. While we might have our Spotify or Apple Music playlists in our pockets, the experience of listening to your favourite tracks on a record player is something no wireless earbud can emulate. The inclusion of a record player in the collection is also especially apt, since Swedish House Mafia are musicians after all.
IKEA is no stranger to producing record players, having made one way back in the 1970s but none since then. Adding one to the collection was also an idea brought up early on in the discussions, with Axwell saying “Wouldn’t it be cool if you could buy a record player as a gift for a friend?”

The OBEGRÄNSAD Record Player is also easy to operate as it just needs some speakers and a USB charger. There is also a record stand (THB$179, US$8.99) that you could buy to store your collection of records.

2. OBEGRÄNSAD Desk

While the MALM and ALEX desks are staples of an IKEA home, the OBEGRÄNSAD Desk takes the workstation to an elevated level. Its silhouette is a lot more streamlined and looks barebones, but underneath the table is a pullout keyboard drawer to keep the tabletop clutter free.
The table also comes with 2 speaker stands that can be attached to the table to prop up their sound systems.
