Known for offering well-made, high-quality furniture designed by an in-house team, Commune is a beloved local furniture brand that’s a must-visit each time we drop by Tan Boon Liat Building.
So, when we learnt that the store was relocating, it sent us into a tizzy. We loved being able to drop by Commune as part of a big furniture hunt at Tan Boon Liat Building and shop for the brand’s discounted luxury items, and the prospect of losing that was unfathomable. Still, the generous discounts of up to 70% off at Commune’s relocation sale serve as a salve to soothe wounds.
Discounted showroom pieces at Commune
Since Commune is relocating, they’re offering discounts of up to 70% off their display items to help clear out the space. Do note that the condition of some pieces show small signs of wear and tear, but they’re easily fixable with a bit of elbow grease and guidance from a YouTube tutorial or two.
When we popped by for a visit, we noticed that the sofas had the most generous discounts of around 50-70%, while home accessories such as bowls and cups had smaller discounts of about 40-50% off.
Although only showroom display pieces are available for sale, there were plenty of gems on offer.
For example, a Poet Sofa Set, originally priced at $4,568, now retails for only $2,000. This sofa set is perfect for wabi-sabi homes, and since it has a solid wood frame and steel legs, it’s sturdy too. Plus, despite being a display piece, we noticed that the white boucle fabric of the sofa didn’t show serious signs of wear and tear.
Other steals include a solid walnut wood table (U.P. $1,539) going for just $500, a solid oak frame side chair (U.P. $529) for $250, and even a workstation (U.P. $2,799) for a whopping $100.
For something a little more fun, consider picking up a telescope for just $449.50 (U.P. $899). Made of brass, leather, and wood, this contraption is perfect for budding astronomers and people who want to add a touch of celestial whimsy to their homes.
