Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 – Sterra alternative for S$200
There’s a good reason why an increasing number of Singaporeans are turning to air purifiers as a safety measure in their homes—not only does it tackle odours well, it’s a great way to combat annoying allergens like dust and pollen.
The Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 touts a purifying radius of 20sqm, all in a span of 10 minutes, along with being able to clean air across a total radius of 48sqm. Mind you, that’s larger than the size of a studio condo.
Thanks to its omni-directional intake, you don’t have to trouble youself with contantly shifting the gadget around the house for it to do its job well. It’s also $50 cheaper than more popular brands, and comes with a good mix of really competitive features for its price point.

The first would have to be its high performance HEPA filter that is able remove 99.97% of particles in the air on top of helping to reduce the spread of common diseases, such as H1N1. It comes with high tech features such as laser sensors detecting particles as small as 0.3μm, alongside smart control through an app.
With the app, you can access features like monitoring the air quality of your home, remote control, setting timings for it to work and even a child-lock. It is able to work with home assistants like Google and Alexa too.
And those worrying about paying through the nose for the filters, these filters promise to be long-lasting, only needing a change once every 6-12 months.

Xiaomi 360° Home Security Camera 2K Pro – An ease of mind for S$99
Sometimes it certainly helps to have a second pair of eyes back home, for everything watching over the kids, or handling other stuff like having contractors come in to fix something. With Xiaomi’s 360° Home Security Camera though, you can perhaps afford to have quite a few of them around the house.
These offer a respectable 2K resolution on a 360-degree view mount. And unlike the regular models, which rely solely on black-and-white infrared, the Pro version still displays in full colour under low-light conditions. It’s a nifty feature when checking on your sleeping kids, or perhaps around the home when you hear a bump in the night.
It also allows for live, real-time display through your usual devices like phones and tablets, so it’s easy to monitor your home even when you’re at your office. There is even a dual-microphone feature that allows you to call home for a 2-way conversation, be it checking in on your fur babies or talking to your kids during lunch break.
The privacy-minded among us can be at ease, as you can roll the camera down when you don’t want the camera monitoring a place at that point in time.
The 360° Home Security Camera isn’t going to hog the home internet bandwidth much either, thanks to its H.265 video encoding technology, producing video feeds that are half the file size of traditional ones. Its dual-band connection means that you’ll have stable connections too.

You won’t have to worry about needing to have a shelf for it either, as you can just as easily mount it upright or inverted.

Xiaomi X10+ fully automatic robot vacuum – High-spec appliance for only S$720
It’s not quite as personable as WALL-E, but robot vacuums are definitely rolling around homes, doing plenty of maintenance cleaning that would otherwise take up a couple hours of our weekends. There are definitely models with a higher price tag out there, but this Xiaomi offering promises similar performance but at a much lower price point.
Using a mix of laser-based imaging and AI, it detects and avoids obstacles with the millimetre-level accuracy that lets it recognise and negotiate with even smaller items like power cables and socks.

It comes mounted with a 360° scanner that allows for quick mapping of home and optimised cleaning pathways. Accompanied by its impressive 4000Pa suction is also a pair of 180 rpm mops at the rear of the X10+ that pressure mops an area after it is vacuumed.

The accompanying high-tech station automatically cleans and dries the mops, removes the dust and refills the water tank in the robot vacuum with no outside input.

Mi Smart Projector 2 – A complete, compact home theatre for S$691
Home theatres are no longer the domain of solely the rich or people with large homes these days, and the Mi Smart Projector 2 is definitely one solution that saves you a lot of $12 dollar movie tickets in the long run.
It boasts a full 1080p resolution, with a 4-channel LED projection that produces vibrant, realistic colours for a great movie viewing experience.
A feature that is much appreciated for smaller homes is the fact that you don’t have to place it perpendicular to the wall for an optimal projection. The multi-axis projection feature in this device uses different axes to adjust your screen so that it will display properly even when placed on the side or at an angle.
Speaking of smaller homes, it also comes with wide projection ratios. In fact, it promises to be able to cast screens as large as 120” from just 3.2 m away, making it perfect for compact rooms. And with built-in Dolby Audio speakers, you can live out your home theatre dreams with just one device.

Xiaomi Smart Speaker (IR control) – A nifty smart home hub for S$65
Effectively a smart home hub not unlike its more well-known counterparts like Google Nest and Echo Dot, it also comes with many features you’d want for such a device.
It has Chromecast, giving you access to online streaming services, uses Google Assistant for voice commands and you can link several of these speakers connected together in your home for synchronised house-wide audio. But it does have a rather nifty ace up its sleeve.
The Xiaomi Smart Speaker comes with an IR transmitter that lets it take your Google Assistant commands and interpret them into IR signals for your more traditional devices. What this means is that you get to have a taste of the convenient J.A.R.V.I.S-style interactions enjoyed by smart home users today, but without having to commit to overhauling your home gadgets just yet.

It comes with 200+ recipes installed, and even has a weighing feature that helps you measure how much of an ingredient you are pouring into the pot.
It uses a 3D induction heating method at a temperature of 180°C, which reduces the amount of cooking smoke generated. Besides helping to keep your kitchen clean, the Smart Cooking Robot also promises an easy one touch cleaning process that incidentally can also be used to wash fruits and vegetables.

Xiaomi Smart Tower Fan – Bladeless fan for only S$125
There are certainly plenty of bladeless alternatives to the traditional bladed fan in today’s market. But few can match the chic, futuristic style points that the Dyson Cool Tower Fan has, you are getting a lot of its functionality with this Xiaomi product.
One of the key features would have to be its extremely large coverage, providing cooling breeze along the entire height of the grille at a 150° angle. You also get to enjoy a bladeless design and a fine 6.9mm grille that prevents your children from carelessly getting their fingers stuck inside the fan, which families with kids would no doubt be thankful for.
It runs rather quietly, with as little as 34.6 dB(A) on its lowest setting and 59.2 dB(A) of sound on its highest. And with how much cooling it does, perhaps you might even consider using this instead of air-conditioning too, especially when you have its low 3.5W electricity consumption.

It works with the Xiaomi Home app, alongside Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.

It also doubles as a smart home hub, connecting to your smart home ecosystem, allowing you to turn your bedroom into your home control centre. It even serves a screen for smart security cameras, allowing you to check on your babies or on the front door.
As expected with smart home hubs, it does have entertainment features like streaming music and other content through Youtube, Spotify as well as other venues through the use of Chromecast.

As far as keeping your fur babies fed when you’re away, this Xiaomi home gadget is one of the premium options you can go for. And it does come with the features to back up its asking price.
Its tower allows for a 15-20 day food supply, or 1.8kg of dry pet food, which is perfect for small dogs or cats. The storage for the dry food is pet and child-safe, preventing any attempts at tampering or greedy attempts to the pet food inside. The smart feeder is designed to pop off in the event that your furchild tries to check it out with its paws so as to prevent injury.
You can do portion control and scheduling mealtimes through the Xiaomi home app and even monitor the amount of food left via the use of sensors. It also notifies you through the app if the tank needs refilling or if there are any errors that have occurred with the feeder.
