It may have changed its name slightly, but Hands, formerly known as Tokyu Hands has captured the attention of Singaporeans with their fun, eclectic collection of home items since they landed in 2014. Having featured the best home items to buy from Don Don Donki a few weeks ago, our team has decided to pay this department chain a visit and provide a list of 7 best home items.
1. Bruno grills starting from $230
If you’re looking for something sleek and compact to complement your aesthetic kitchen, you should have a look at these Bruno grills. Highly coveted for its cute design – perfect for hot pots, DIY pepper lunch and even has a takoyaki plate feature. They come in varying sizes, but what got our attention was the grande grill for $230.40 and the oval grill for $256 for those cooking for a family or even a small party.
The additional plates are sold separately.
2. Mite traps for $32.20
If you’ve ever had to live through the nightmare that is a bed bug infestation and never want to experience it again, then perhaps you might want to grab one of these. These are easy-to-use mite traps, designed to simply be placed under your bed, rugs, sofas and other areas where mites were found for them to work.
They attract the mites to burrow into the mat, which then promptly kills it.After 3 months you can dispose of the mat. It even has a handy tag on the mat where you can write the date you first placed the mat in case you forget. They come in packs of 2 and 3 as well if you need more of them.
3. Bathroom anti-mould scrub for $12.20
You might’ve remembered that battle you’ve lost to annoying mould stains in your bathroom. The one that you’ve spent a whole Saturday using a stiff brush and pure grit, only to find it stubbornly clinging on to your bathroom grouting or–God forbid–the walls.
For those who’ve had the misfortune of having to go through that, the anti-mould scrub from Hands might be a good solution for you. It comes with a natural fungicide and heavily textured bristles, ensuring that you will definitely rid your bathroom of the mouldy menace next time.
4. Grease stain remover for $26.60
Removing the grimey grease from gas stove frames can sometimes be a headache, usually a time-consuming process involving lots of hot water and detergent. But if you find yourself at your wit’s end, this grease stain remover from Hands will do the trick.
Price-wise, it is slightly high, but this one gets the job done by simply spraying the grease and wiping it off after.
5. Limescale remover for $8.30
Limescale isn’t harmful, but if left unattended to, it does admittedly form an unsightly buildup over time. When it starts taking over your tap handles, pipes and other plumbing fixtures, you might perhaps make do with lemon and vinegar and hope for the best. Or you can look for the help of a German brand instead.
This limescale remover differs from other brands because it works faster than your usual citric acid solutions. You’d also have to do less descaling in the future too, since the solution also works to slow any future buildup of limescale.
6. Bedroom cooling fabrics for $50.20
In hot tropical Singapore, sometimes the air-conditioning just isn’t enough. You roll restlessly in your bed, wasting your sleep time away with fruitless attempts at flipping your bedsheets, trying to find the cool side. This bed sheet comforter, meant to be used underneath the regular sheets, might help you say goodbye to those restless nights and hello to a good night’s sleep.
The cooling fabric that these are made with help regulate temperature so that it is always just cold enough to be comfy. They also come with products made with the same material that help cater to different niches, including one that lets you wrap it around your pillow for a similar effect.
They even have double-sided blankets, with a cooling side and a waffle-textured side in case the cooling side is too cold for your liking.
7. Mini carpet cleaner for $160.40
With the creamy white colour palettes in Japandi and Wabi Sabi homes, stains will be an inevitable issue you have to contend with. This spot cleaner functions similarly a wet-and-dry vacuum, rinsing the stained fabrics before sucking the dissolved dirt and other material away.
You can add your own cleaning solution to the water for a more effective cleaning, and the design of it means that you can easily clean vertical surfaces such as carpeted walls. The compact size of this nifty appliance also lets you take it out to clean out the seats of your car.
