New mum Tricia Ong, who may be better known by her Instagram handle @vaingloriousyou, recently moved into her newly renovated home: a 5-bedroom condo in the east. Designed by local company Tidplus Design, her stylish new abode underwent a $150K renovation, which we got a peek into.
As realtors, Tricia and her husband have seen more than their fair share of homes. When it came to deciding on the design of their own, they wanted one that would stand the test of time.

“I want it to have a soft, elegant look that exudes quiet confidence, and I don’t want to get sick of the design (in time),” was her brief to the ID, and here’s how they achieved that effect:
Light cream colours, warm lights & curves
Their living area is lined on one side by a 6.6m-long balcony, which lets in plenty of natural light by day. To capitalise on this, and maintain that “light and airy” feel even after the sun sets, the ID went with an elegant cream colour, accented with gold.
By night, dotless LED lights by KKPL lend the house a warm glow, and shine a spotlight on treasured mementos in her custom open shelving.
There are plenty of nooks on the main display that spans the entire wall behind their island table which the couple can continue to fill in time; there are also closed drawers so storage space isn’t compromised on.
The key feature of these backlit shelves is how the vertical lines curve out from the ceiling, and down into the floor━making them a soft, organic addition to the living space.
Presiding over the marble-topped island table is a Moooi Heracleum III Endless Suspension Lamp by Dutch designer Bertjan Pot. Its copper hardware complements the warm creams of the home, while the flora-inspired branches add a subtle little extra pizzazz to the otherwise serene living area.
Creating an open living space that’s perfect for hosting
Tricia and Angus love hosting friends and family, so it comes as no surprise that their home has multiple spaces where they can do so. To begin, they knocked down one of the bedrooms in the original flat to create an enlarged, open-concept living area.
Their HomesToLife recliner sofa seats up to 7, and the island table seats another 7. On the balcony, they’ve got an alfresco dining table for a party of 8, while the breakfast counter at the kitchen pass-through window can accommodate 4━if you do the math, that’s a whopping 26 seats.
The marble counter of the kitchen pass matches the island table; it doubles up as another casual dining area with a view of the kitchen.
Full-length feature wall & TV console
One of Tricia’s favourite features in the house is the full-length TV feature wall that runs from the entrance of the house to the balcony. Its curved ends and sleek profile mean it doesn’t invade conspicuously into the space of the living room, yet provides storage solutions.
Soft white & gold walk-in wardrobe
Soft and timeless are the overarching principles behind the design of this condominium unit━step into Tricia’s walk-in wardrobe and you’ll see it holds true. The eye is drawn immediately to the gold-rimmed oval mirror that’s suspended over a scallop-edged vanity, with its soft boucle seat.
For that classic look, the mirror is flanked by a pair of art deco wall lights with textured glass balls.
As you zoom out from the vanity in its arched nook, each side of the room is lined with full-height white doors, the lines uninterrupted by any division into upper and lower cabinets. Here, the handles are smooth brushed gold, gently curved to facilitate opening the respective doors and aligned to keep the aesthetics to its elegant minimalism.
Elegant brass gold sanitary fittings in hotel-worthy bathrooms
The modern luxe theme of the home continues in the bathrooms, with light-coloured, large-format tiles and cabinetry keeping in line with the cream colour scheme.
Again, dotless LED strip lights illuminate the space with a soft glow, enhancing the gleam of brass gold Hans Grohe fittings.
Where the luxe hotel vibes really come through is in the master bathroom, where his-and-hers sinks sit beneath simple wall-to-wall mirrors, with recessed strip lights beneath lighting up the wash area. A minimalist long black wall sconce provides extra illumination, anchored by strategically placed down lights above.
Simple & elegant bedroom sanctuaries
Cleanly elegant, the nursery for their new baby is a haven of calm, with its Customised Mural from the Janus Collection at Wallhub featuring a pastoral pencil-etched scene of life-like forest creatures in a garden with arches and fountains.
Where the nursery is full of light and spring, the master bedroom takes on a more subdued, darker hue with its dark leather bed frame and pedestal marble side tables. Cove lighting and Lee Broom Lens Flair Pendant Lights, with their diffused lighting and brushed brass, add soft mood lighting to this place of respite.

Less is sometimes more, and Tricia Ong’s modern luxe condo unit epitomises this principle. Clean elegant lines, with accents of gold on cream have come together to produce a timeless, classic home that’ll see the new family through the years.
