Museum-inspired living room that looks like a condo
The living room sets the tone of the rest of the home, flanked by a wall of wainscotting and a panelled double door. The museum and art gallery inspiration came from Qijia’s desire for a home that is both “relaxing and inspiring”, one that would be perfectly aligned with her creative disposition.
Being a 5-room BTO located on the top floor of the block, the museum theme is also enhanced by the home’s higher-than-usual ceilings. Taking into account the dimensions of the home combined with the additions provided by the renovation, you’d be forgiven if you mistook it for a condo in a well-heeled part of town.
In classic Parisian apartment fashion, the white palette of the home serves as the perfect canvas for the warm wood tone of the parquet flooring as well as the bright orange zaisu chair.
The art gallery inspirations do not end with the overall facade of the room; the career DJ has also deliberately set up her matte-display TV on an easel stand to emulate the visage of a painting.
The wainscotting is further highlighted by the embedding of 3 Boba lamps by Sol Luminaire. This addition still retains the sleek look while providing gentle diffused lighting in the living space when dusk falls.
The furniture is appropriately chic, with charming cloud-shaped ottomans, a bouclé chair and a simple leather sofa, all of it in a creamy off-white that complements the palette of the home.
The real attention grabber here would have to be this visually-arresting coffee table by Crane Living that’s constructed out of iridescent acrylic, crowned with a small stack of books and an oh-so-cute cloud-shaped tissue box holder.
The spaciousness of this home actually serves another purpose: Qijia’s desire to host lots of friends and family for meals and entertainment. This also meant having an extended wooden table that fits about 8-10 people.
There is definitely a distinct sense of warmth that the dining area emanates, with the wood tone of the table itself, yellow chairs and pendant lights with their bronze lamp shades bathing this area in a gentle amber glow.
Reading “More love please” in Spanish, this framed print reflects the heartfelt homeliness in the space.
Located beside the front door of their home, there is a full-height ornate frame mirror for any last minute fit checks before heading out.
Corridor that doubles up as an art gallery
Arguably the pièce de résistance of this home, this panelled double door does more than just add to the Parisian charm of the living room.

The double-door design, accessorised with ornate golden door knockers, creates a sense of ceremony when entering the more personal section of the home.
Whilst not fully set up yet, Qijia Intends for this place to be filled with artwork and paintings, evoking the feel of walking through an art gallery.
An absolutely luxe feminine en-suite master bathroom
Looking like the set for a luxury cosmetics product launch, the master bathroom drips with feminine opulence. The L-shaped pink shower tiles come together with the cream shade of the rest of the bathroom to create a look that’s less girlypop, more femme sophistication.
The strip lights, in the form of cove lighting as well as the backlit mirror, enhance the luxurious vibe whilst also keeping the place bathed in soothing illumination.
And let’s not forget the gold fittings that really tie the whole look together, from the shower fixture to the bidet hose.
This wall section is an addition to the bathroom, serving as both a splash guard as well as additional shelf space.
Whimsical yet practical dresser & office study
At first glance, the study and dressing room combo looks as though it’s trying to find its identity. But Qijia revealed that it’s in fact a study in symmetry and juxtaposition.
On the left is Qijia’s wardrobe and dresser table, done up in an adorable pastel pink and mustard yellow theme.
The feminine, whimsical nature of this side shines through at the dresser table itself, with the cult-favourite Flowerpot VP9 by &Tradition, a noodle chair by Chair Crazy and an ornate frame arched mirror. This setup makes the perfect backdrop for shooting cosmetic and outfit content, which Qijia intends to create more of.
Right across from the vanity is Qijia’s work area, making it extra convenient for her to get to editing her videos after she’s shot her content. Decidedly minimalistic, there are still panelled cabinets to keep with the theme of the rest of the home, as well as a few choice pieces of decor to spruce the place up.
French-design inspired common bathroom
With its dark blue theme, the guest bathroom was very much dressed to impress. The colour palette was selected by Qijia’s husband to complement the pink master bathroom that she wanted.
Going for stacked vertical subway tiles definitely helped visually lengthen the dimensions of the bathroom, and the shade of blue chosen allows the white and gold vanity to stand out.
The black-and-white tiles on the shower area connect it to the French theme of the home, but are also appropriately interrupted by 2 matte orange nooks for storing toiletries. The continued choice of minimalist gold fixtures imbues a sense of opulence to the overall look without being too ostentatious.
An all-white kitchen with golden accents for an elegant vibe
Just like the corridor, Qijia has incorporated a folding lattice door to the kitchen, this time with glass panels that evoke the look of French double doors.
The kitchen itself is simply designed, with an almost all-white palette and sleek, clean lines throughout. This design choice keeps the place feeling bright and airy. The open shelf is partly a cost-saving measure, but also provides a way for the couple to easily keep stock of their kitchenware.
But just like in the common bathroom, the devil’s in the details when it comes to appreciating the refined quality of this place.

It manifests in little details, such as ornate cabinet handles, fixtures and even the stove, but Qijia has added gold accents throughout the kitchen to give it a sense of understated elegance. These knobs, alongside the handles for the double door, are handmade, and go for about $30-50 a pop.
There are even streaks of gold veins on the marble countertop.

Relaxingly minimalist master bedroom
When it came to the bedroom, Qijia decided to go for a minimalist approach to balance out the visually busier designs of the rest of the home. Here, she’s traded out all of the textures provided by panelling and decor in favour of rich, warm wood, creating a cosy, inviting setting for rest.
The industrial-style incandescent bulb lamps on the bedside counters add both warmth and a contemporary vibe to the bedroom.

They’ve created a built-in wardrobe here, which stores more of Qijia’s clothes as well as her husband’s outfits.
The master bedroom is also home to a beautifully candid shot captured during their engagement. In the photo, Qijia’s husband strums his guitar while singing his proposal song, and she’s pictured fighting back emotional tears.

The Parisian apartment look might sound like a daunting design theme to work with, but Qijia’s home strikes just the right balance between some of its more ambitious elements and the understated elegance inherent with this interior design style.
