An open-concept patio and living area with no obvious main door

Colonial jungalow patio

With a shroud of ferns and other large-leafed plants surrounding it, the patio is designed to be perfect for the couple to lounge comfortably amidst the greenery. Despite the number of plants, the homeowner says they are generally manageable thanks to her grandmother’s green thumb.

Much of the furniture is paired to accommodate how often the couple spends time here, while plenty of chairs are available for hosting guests. The choice of rattan for the furniture, combined with the cute swing set adds to the tropical vacation vibe.

When you enter, one thing you’ll note is that there isn’t a traditional entryway in the form of a set of double doors for this home. Instead, the homeowners opted to knock down the walls in favour of floor-to-ceiling Crittal-style sliding glass doors to allow for ventilation and sunlight to flood their home.

Tropical-inspired interior to celebrate their love for the colour green

The homeowners have an obsession with the colour green, and it shows most prominently in the living room. A tropical-themed wallpaper sets the tone, complemented by green accents in the furniture. The patterned tiles, reminiscent of designs from the 80s and 90s, add a touch of local charm to the space.

The gym is conveniently accessible through a sleek sliding glass door, seamlessly integrating it with the rest of the home. Meanwhile, the kitchen door was intentionally painted red to create a striking contrast against the black-and-white theme of the renovation, serving as a bold visual focal point for anyone entering the space.

One of the homeowners’ favourite acquisitions for this reno is this Seletti monkey lamp. The monkey lamp reinforces the tropical vibe of the place, whilst also adding a fun cheeky quality to the mix. It’s also interesting to know that there are other monkey lamps peppered around the house.

Turned their patio into a custom “outdoor” gym

For the homeowners, both avid gym-goers who work out about four times a week, designing the gym was the top priority in their renovation. The greenhouse-inspired design was intentional, reflecting their love for exercising in the heat. Sliding glass doors facing the garden provide ample ventilation, enhancing the workout experience.

The green astroturf flooring adds visual continuity, seamlessly blending the gym with the garden walkway outside, as if the garden extends into the space. Interestingly, the homeowners shared that the gym was also the most expensive part of their renovation.

Despite the man-cave aesthetic, Elvin’s wife made sure to include a sofa and TV set, turning the space into a versatile secondary living area for the family.

The bedroom features a calming, sophisticated turquoise hue, paired with a leather cushion headboard that adds a touch of refined elegance.

Colonial jungalow balcony

The green balcony draws inspiration from the homeowners’ visits to P.S.Cafe, known for its lush greenery-filled interiors. Wire frames were installed on the ceiling to enhance the verdant aesthetic with hanging planters.

This design not only adds a layer of privacy to the bedroom but also allows the homeowners to enjoy serene views of the tranquil neighborhood.

A master bathroom that cost over $20k to renovate

Visually impressive, the bathroom is the result of a unique mix of styles. The black vanity and gold mirror that exude a sense of luxury whilst distinctive teal tiles that line the walls evoke the look of dragon scales.

The homeowners had not originally intended to spend a lot of money on here, they just wanted to keep it visually consistent with the home. The cost of the tiles added up though, making this one of the more expensive parts of the renovation.
