This time, our team made good on a tip from a colleague and paid a quick visit to Komtar Shopping Mall in Johor. Here’s a list of 11 cheap cleaning supplies we found in JB for you to snag alongside whatever you are buying for your home reno.

Household Cleaners

A familiar brand for most, the Softlan fabric conditioner would be an easy pick for as far as cleaning supplies in JB are concerned. The 19% savings compared to the $3.53 it’s currently listed for at FairPrice may seem modest, but remember that the savings  add up over time, especially if you usually have plenty of laundry to do.

Folks with kids, or large households, this would definitely be something you’d want to get when you head over the Causeway for a cheap lunch.

2. Dynamo Liquid Power Gel Detergent 3.9kg: RM41.90 (~S$11.69)

Readers who prefer Walch can also bag  their refills when you go to JB. Although they’ve gotten somewhat cheaper on Shopee, you’ll still be stretching your dollar quite a bit to buy them in Malaysia as compared to Singapore, with as much as 56% savings on the $X retail price at home.

4. Goodmaid All-Purpose Scouring Sponge: RM3.20 (~S$0.92)

Cleaning supplies in JB Sponge

Singapore might have Scotch-Brite, but if you’re looking for a similar product that’s only a fraction of its price, then this dupe by Goodmaid is probably the sponge to get. And before you go, “Pfft, I can just get that online,” it’s currently going for $2.94 at Shopee, meaning buying it in Johor is going to net you a whopping 68% savings.

Whilst perhaps not carrying quite the same reputation as 3M, the value of these Goodmaid sponges alone makes it worth dropping a packet or two into your basket when you’re shopping in JB.

5. Clorox Disinfecting All-Purpose Cleaner 2L: RM13.09 (~S$3.77)

Cleaning supplies in JB Method Granite And Steel Cleaner

And for those that are looking for a granite or steel cleaner that doesn’t break the bank, our team found these Method cleaners that go for only $5.70. And this is one cleaner that you can’t really get in Singapore—the closest you’re going to get is a Weiman Granite Cleaner, which would set you back by a comparatively eye-watering $16.06 on Shopee.

It does equally well against most natural stones like granite or marble. And it’s environmentally friendly to boot, with the solution being made of plant-based ingredients. The bottle itself is also made of recycled plastic.

Best cleaning supplies to buy in JB on the cheap

Whether it’s for the affordable petrol or cheap food, crossing the Causeway has long been associated with Singaporeans leveraging our favourable currency exchange rates to get a good deal.

Whilst perhaps the idea of braving the heavy traffic over at customs just for groceries or cleaning products might seem a bit too much effort, these could easily be items you can get on the side, allowing you to stretch your dollar more on your visit there.
