Originally priced at around $2 million, this 1,500sqft 4-bedroom condo penthouse hides a surprisingly personal touch thanks to a recent $100,000 renovation.

A small staircase tucked away behind vertical wood slats leads to a unique loft space, repurposed into a dedicated home office. Up here, a collection of impressive 400% Bearbrick figurines shares the spotlight with a trove of anime figurines.

In addition, a vibrant faux green wall backs a statement Murakami flower neon light, adding a playful pop to the otherwise monochromatic modern home.

The light-filled theme continues beyond the expansive windows. A large, abstract pendant light hangs above the living room, adding another layer of personality to the space. On the other hand, floor-to-ceiling windows with flowing curtains keep the lighting balanced.

You can enjoy natural light, opt for filtered peeks of the sun through the sheers, or achieve complete darkness with the blackout curtains.  A large sliding glass door seamlessly connects the living area to the balcony entrance, creating the illusion of a more extensive open space.

While the floor-to-ceiling windows provide a sophisticated touch, the wall space above the sliding glass door offers a different kind of visual treat. Here, the space showcases a collection of limited-edition Takashi Murakami designer skateboards.

Boasting Murakami’s signature rainbow colour palette, this collection reflects the homeowner’s personality and becomes an easy conversation starter for any guest.

Flanking the tall windows is a large TV on a unique accent wall, featuring floor-to-ceiling vertical wooden slats that complement the impressive height of the windows.

The warm tones of the wood add a touch of natural texture, while the clever addition of backlighting with warm LED lights creates a soft glow throughout the room, reflecting the consistent lighting seen throughout the home.

A sleek console table displays another limited-edition 400% Bearbrick, while a mounted shelf above houses a collection of wooden KAWS figurines.

Tucked behind the living area, and in the entrance to the balcony, is an extensive floor-to-ceiling sneaker collection shelf. A strategically placed faux plant feature wall not only adds a touch of nature to the space, but also cleverly conceals the sneaker collection from the living area.

Stepping outside into the balcony entrance, 2 large KAWS figurines fill the space. Encased in a glass display box, the monotone black figurine stands in contrast to a bright blue lego Batman action figure perched atop.

The large balcony also houses a sitting area outfitted with dark rattan armchairs and paired with a plush grey ottoman. To soften the contemporary aesthetic, additional faux greenery on the balcony column adds a touch of vibrancy.

Stepping down the hallway, you’ll notice a strategically placed mirror at the far end. This seemingly simple addition plays a clever role. The mirror’s reflection creates an illusion of a longer corridor, subtly enhancing the perceived spaciousness of the penthouse.

This focus on maximising space is further echoed in the thoughtful use of lighting. Warm LED light strips along the ceilings mirror the hallway’s design, and even bathe the doors in a soft glow. Each LED strip is controlled by its own switch, offering the flexibility to create a variety of lighting configurations.

The hallway in this penthouse serves a dual purpose of connecting the spaces, and showcasing the homeowner’s serious passion for Bearbrick figurines. A custom-made, built-in glass cabinet lines the hallway, designed to house the homeowner’s growing collection.

The homeowner’s full collection currently boasts 20 sizable 400% Bearbricks, and a whopping 60 1000% figures, which are even larger. It’s been 8 years since they began their Bearbricks collection in 2016, and it currently stands at a total investment of approximately $100k—almost as much as they spent renovating the apartment.

But the value of this collection extends beyond price tags. Its estimated worth now sits at around $200,000, highlighting the potential investment value these designer toys can hold.

Continuing with the Bearbrick theme, the kitchen boasts an unconventional seamless glass display cabinet integrated into the counter.

Housing 5 impressive 400% Bearbrick figurines, this kitchen counter and display case is a practical yet aesthetic way to maximise the home’s space.

Apart from the statement peninsula, the kitchen features sleek dark wood cabinetry, creating a sophisticated backdrop that perfectly complements the cool marble countertops. This contemporary look extends to the appliances, ensuring a cohesive feel throughout the space.

Adding to the kitchen’s functionality is a series of Line8 power tracks installed along the countertops. These innovative tracks act like running electrical sockets, allowing for convenient flexibility.

A Bearbrick collector’s $2M condo penthouse loft

From the light-filled living area with its curated collection of designer toys to the modern balcony with pops of greenery, every detail in this condo reflects a unique personality.

The Bearbrick collection stands out as a prime example. While the potential resale value of the figurines is undeniably impressive, the true significance lies in the emotional connection that the homeowner has with them. Each figure represents a memory or a connection to a particular artist or pop culture phenomenon.

The Chomper 1000%, their first and most treasured acquisition, exemplifies this perfectly. Despite currently commanding a price close to $25,000 on collector websites, the homeowner is reluctant to ever part with the piece.
