Everyone’s favourite meatball stop, IKEA Alexandra, has finally completed their 4-year renovation, and you’re invited to their housewarming party. Running from 24th-25th August, the Swedish furniture giant has got loads of discounts at this celebration.
Our colleagues over at TSL have covered everything you can expect at the revamped IKEA Alexandra, including a photo booth, upgraded showrooms as well as a new bakery. Here at Uchify, we’ve rounded up the best of the sweet deals to look forward to this weekend.
1. 50% off POÄNG low-back armchair: $79 (U.P. $159)
The brainchild of Japanese designer Noboru Nakamura, the POÄNG low-back armchair ($79, U.P. $159) is a design that has changed little since its first launch in 1977. And for good reason too, given its rather timeless appeal.
Beyond just bearing a sense of understated visual elegance, the curved wood laminate frame is flexible enough to turn this into an oh-so-satisfying rocking chair.

It also comes in a range of colours, including black, beige and vissile red.
2. 25% off LACK side table: $9.90 (U.P. $12.90)
Another piece that has withstood the test of time, the LACK side table ($9.90, U.P. $12.90) is anything but lacking in versatility. Its compact size and optimal height make it perfect for a variety of purposes around the home, from a bedside countertop to being part of a nesting table set.

The real magic lies beneath the surface, with its insides consisting of a honeycomb structure that retains all of the strength you’d want for a table whilst being very lightweight and portable.
3. 45% off HEMNES bookcase: $219 (U.P. $399)
Classy and unassuming at first glance, the HEMNES bookcase ($219, U.P. $399) comes with plenty of tricks up its sleeve. Most of the shelves are actually removable, with slots by the side to allow for adjusting the height clearance between each shelf.
In fact, the bottom shelf is actually a removable lid, exposing additional storage. It also has adjustable legs to keep it stable when placed on uneven surfaces.
4. 36% off SMEDSTORP 3-seat sofa: $599 (U.P. $949)
If you want a sofa that will fit most design styles, IKEA’s SMEDSTORP 3-seat sofa ($599, U.P. $949) would be just the ticket. It comes with higher-than-usual legs that makes the underside easier to clean with a vacuum cleaner. With the mélange effect on its fabric, you can worry less about any off putting stains too.
Even if you disregarded all those features though, the almost 50% discount for this furniture piece alone should make it an easy purchase decision.
Also comes in red-brown and dark grey colours.

5. 50% off BONDSKÄRET hat & coat stand: $29 (U.P. $59)
Quirky and definitely eye-catching, the tree-like BONDSKÄRET hat and coat stand ($29, U.P. $59) is a fun way to greet guests and give them a place to hang their coat at.
Besides being aesthetically appealing, there is actually a method to the madness of having uneven arm lengths on this design; this way, you can actually hang a lot more than typical symmetrical coat stands.
6. 25% off KYRRE stool: $19.90 (U.P. $25)
Essentially an Artek Stool 60 dupe, IKEA’s KYRRE stool ($19.90, U.P. $25) is a beautiful testament to the enduring quality of Alvar Aalto’s design. Its simplicity allows it to easily play whatever role you’d find fit for it, and being 3-legged means that it won’t ever wobble, even if placed on uneven floors.

The biggest draw of it though, is its ability to easily stack, giving you both the ability to seat plenty of guests and having compact storage when not in use.
7. 47% off BEKVÄM stepladder: $49 (U.P. $85)
Sometimes you need a full ladder, but other times you just need something higher than a stool to get to the top of a kitchen cabinet. In those moments of mild mundane inconvenience, you’d probably love to have something like the BEKVÄM stepladder ($49, U.P. $85) nearby.
It is made entirely out of beech wood, which helps ensure sturdiness, and can easily be folded away when not in use.

It even comes with a wall hook that lets you hang it to the wall to save even more real estate in your home.
8. 14% off SANDARED pouffe: $59 (U.P. $69)
Be it the natural textures of the wabi-sabi home, or the soft demeanour of cottagecore, but the SANDARED pouffe ($59, U.P. $69) will easily function as both furniture and decor piece for your home. The beautiful knitting is actually rather resilient, whilst also being easily removed for machine washing.
The underside is also anti-slip, so you won’t need to worry about it moving about when used as a footstool or a seat.
9. 18% off KALLAX shelving unit: $89 (U.P. $109)
Rounding out the list is the humble, ubiquitous KALLAX shelving unit ($89, U.P. $109), a popular choice both for homes and offices all over Singapore. With no real legs to fix it to one orientation, it will look just as good standing or on its side.

And with a whole ecosystem of related attachments in the IKEA catalogue, you can easily personalise it to your specific storage needs.

The IKEA Alexandra Housewarming Party is on all weekend, so you might want to make plans to visit their store stat if you want to snag a couple of these deals.
