Johor Bahru has become a hotspot for those seeking quality furniture at affordable prices, and the many stores we’ve featured on Uchify are testament to that fact. However, none of them come close in size to MUMU Living in Permas, a mega store with 4 storeys worth of furniture.

MUMU Living’s mega store is located in Permas Jaya, JB, a short 11-minute drive from the Johor checkpoint. The store is hard to miss, due to the fact that it’s smack dab on the main road. It’s certainly not in an ulu place either, as the massive Aeon shopping mall is within walking distance as well.

4 floors of furniture with tons of variety
Spanning 4 floors, MUMU Living’s showroom in Permas has a collection of furniture that suit a variety of aesthetics. The offerings range from wooden Japanese-inspired pieces to all-white minimalist furniture.

On one floor, you might find the Taka adjustable book rack (RM628, ~S$180), which wouldn’t look out of place in a Muji store.

On another, you’d also see the Pumpkin Rotatable Armchair (RM1,059, ~S$304) with its velvet fleece upholstery and plush look, which you might have come across while scrolling through trending furniture on Taobao.
Test out trending Taobao furniture

And that’s precisely what sets MUMU Living apart from other JB based furniture stores: the large selection of Taobao furniture. The store is a huge purveyor of the Taobao brand Linsy home furniture, even being listed on the Linsy website as one of their official offline retailers.

However, there is a noticeable difference in cost, with the same items on MUMU being sold at a drastically higher price point. One example of this is the Bella bedside table (RM488, ~S$143), available for half the price on Taobao (RMB407, ~S$77). Of course, this Taobao price is exclusive of shipping and handling charges.

For a more dramatic price difference, consider the Gubi Pacha chair (RM1,550 ~S$455), which is over 9 times more expensive than the similar-looking Taobao version (RMB407, ~S$50).

If you’re on the fence about purchasing a particular piece of furniture from Taobao, coming to the Permas showroom to personally try it out may help you come to a conclusion. Of course, you can also purchase the item from MUMU directly, which might be an attractive option for those who have trouble liaising with Taobao sellers in Mandarin.
Fuss-free delivery & assembly service

Additionally, Taobao’s delivery process requires meticulous negotiation with sellers, and long shipment times, where MUMU offers a much more straightforward experience. This is all on top of the store’s free delivery service to Singapore with a minimum purchase of RM2,000 (~S$575).
There’s even complimentary assembly and installation service included, so all you have to do is arrange for your desired delivery time slot, and then relax knowing your furniture will arrive pre-assembled. MUMU Living offers 4 delivery time slots from Monday to Saturday, between 10am to 5pm.
MUMU Living Permas has 4 floors of furniture & ships to Singapore
Whether you want to try out some Taobao furniture, or peruse their extensive 4-floor collection of furniture, we’re sure that making a trip to MUMU Living’s mega store in Permas will be worth it.
