Bought for $580K before grants, this 4-room resale flat underwent a $57K renovation and transformed to a French farmhouse-inspired haven, from a standard HDB. Felicia, one of the homeowners, shared that she had been collecting design inspirations from Pinterest and noticed a common thread running through her saved images—a consistent French farmhouse theme.
True to its inspiration, the home leans heavily on a soft, neutral palette, natural wood textures, and vintage-style furnishings. Two recessed niches flanking the TV console highlights the faux fireplace below—a quintessential farmhouse touch that adds a cosy, lived-in feel to the space.
The tartan fabric on their L-shaped dining nook, paired with fluted wooden chairs and matching table further accentuates the rustic aesthetic. Felicia also added that the chairs were all assembled by hand, which is one of the reasons why this spot is one of her favorites in her home.
In the kitchen, they opted for light green cabinetry paired with golden handles, while the whimsical backsplash tiles sourced from Taobao adds a playful charm. The kitchen hood ties the farmhouse vibe together—it’s a signature feature often found in traditional French kitchens.
Their main bathroom features a gold-accentuated shower and a glass door with a gold trim. A curved mirror cabinet and matching vanity adds a rustic charm, while the floral tiles lining the walls enhance the cosy, lived-in vibe of the space.

Ingenious hidden storage options all around the flat
Since their home doesn’t come with a storeroom, the couple cleverly integrated storage solutions into their living areas—arguably one of the most eye-catching aspects of the space. Everyday essentials are tucked beneath the seats of their dining nook, while the bench near the island holds their luggage.
Even the island in the living room features concealed cabinets for storing smaller essentials—or the occasional snack stash.
The kitchen hood isn’t just a decorative piece either, as it can actually be lifted up to reveal additional storage where they keep spices and other dry goods.
In total, the couple spent around $16k on the carpentry for the entire home, and judging by how it looks and functions, it’s safe to say the investment was well worth it in the long run.
Other unique features around the home
To further accentuate the French farmhouse charm, the master bedroom’s bathroom doors were designed as a double-door set—an uncommon sight in most Singaporean homes today.
In the living room, ceiling beams draw the eye upwards. Felicia shared that these were installed by the previous homeowners, and they chose to keep them as the beams complemented the home’s farmhouse aesthetic. In time, they hope to add wooden wallpaper to enhance the rustic look even further.
