The $150k reno price tag might raise some eyebrows, but once you take in all the meticulous design details that have gone into this home, it all makes sense. From a sleek false ceiling and embedded strip lights to elaborate fluted and marble feature walls, every element of the living area has been thoughtfully chosen to make the home exude luxury.

Rich warm tones are used throughout the home for a cohesive feel, while complementing leather furniture pieces complete the look, creating a cosy, yet elegant living room.

Double-volume airwell converted into a sneaker vault

Curved airwells are a rare feature in HDBs, one that’s exclusive to maisonettes dating back to the 80s and usually host to many a unique renovation feature. This sneaker vault is designed and built from scratch by Jialux Interior, creating a special nook for this sneakerhead couple to showcase their extensive collection of Nikes and Ferragamo shoes.

While their collection extends far beyond what’s on display, ID and homeowners elected not to build it all the way to the top. This intentional choice allows for easier maintenance and prevents the having to figure out the challenge of cleaning higher shelves.

Adjacent to this is a glass roof that lets plenty of sunlight into this unit, whilst doubling as a nice area for the homeowners to enjoy a spot of tea.

The foyer has been renovated to function as a second living room. Here, another TV has been placed so that the family can watch different programmes at the same time, or for their kids to play with the Nintendo Switch under their parents’ supervision.

Small vertical garden that adds a lively pop of green to the space, with a bright neon sign custom ordered from Neon Sign Singapore adding to that hip, laid-back vibe.

Sleek, modern open-concept kitchen

The kitchen was redesigned to match the luxury aesthetic, but also to accommodate the homeowner’s passion for baking. This meant a black stone and dark brown theme, with sleek pull-out doors on the cabinetry as well as a huge kitchen island.

The island is one of the things that the homeowners really wanted, being made as big as the space would allow so there is real estate for more intensive cooking. The oval shape is deliberate, with round corners so as to be safer for their kids.

Almost all of the surfaces of the kitchen are done in laminate, including the backsplash. This allowed the homeowners flexibility to choose various stone-like patterns for a richly-textured look that complements the palette of the home.

Illuminated staircase with marble backdrop

Though the homeowners don’t recall the exact cost, they confirm that the staircase was the most expensive part of the renovation. It could have been even pricier had they opted for real marble, but instead, they used marble-design acrylic panels.

This alternative not only looks like the real thing but also maintains a glossy finish for longer, all for a fraction of the price it would have been with conventional marble.

The LED strip lights line the side keep the stairs illuminated at night whilst adding a touch of sophistication. For added safety, laminated glass was chosen for the railing, ensuring that even in the event of breakage, it remains intact to protect their kids.

Lots of marble in the bedrooms & bathrooms

The bedroom itself looks like something out of a luxury hotel suite, with a dramatic marble facade that frames the bed. There are 2 huge built-in wardrobes, providing ample storage for the homeowners’ fashion items.

The bathroom is incredibly spacious by HDB standards, with the walls lined in marble to align it to the luxury theme. The amount of real estate here is made possible by knocking down the walls to the common bathroom.
