Living room that’s dripping with dark brooding vibes

Decked out in all black, this home reno is described as being like “Bruce Wayne living in Manhattan, but on a budget”. It comes with very little in the way of actual illumination for the home. Instead, a large window lets in plenty of natural light, and the light fixtures are instead dedicated to providing warm lighting to give the home a sense of dark sophistication.
It is interesting to note that the average homeowner would usually shy away from using black for their home out of fear that it would make it look smaller. But not only does this 614sqft home not feel small at all, all-black palette really sets the mood for the home in dramatic fashion.
Dining area that looks like an upper-class bar

The homeowner specifically briefed the designer to not design a home, and to instead design a bar that just happened to come with a bed. The bar in question would be at the dining area, which is spotlit with warm lighting to create the atmosphere fitting of a cosy fancy setting.
The dark moody vibe combined with glitzy class makes it the perfect place for a night of appreciating spirits.

The highlight of the home is undeniably its centrepiece—a stunning arched shelf designed to store drinks in style. Its open design ensures effortless access to the collection, making it perfect for both the homeowner and his guests to enjoy. The custom carpentry for this sleek bar area came in at $4,675, adding both functionality and flair to the space.
Back-lighting is also added, allowing the bottles beautifully soft, subtle glow on the shelf.

Beyond the display, additional carpentry adjacent to it has been thoughtfully designed for liquor storage. This seamless integration not only maximises storage space but also complements the bar’s overall speakeasy-inspired aesthetic, ensuring both style and practicality go hand in hand.
Kitchen with clean sleek lines & plenty of utility

The kitchen keeps with the fashionably sleek lines of the rest of the home. Despite the clean, minimalist look, there is actually a pretty good allocation of space, with the area being capable of holding cooking essentials like a full oven, microwave, rice cooker, air-fryer whilst having a decent amount of storage for its size.
Open-concept studio design with minimal bedroom

When the homeowner asked the ID to make a home that’s more of a bar that happens to be a bed, it seems that he had meant it. As opposed to a separated room, they’ve gone instead for an open-concept solution, with the “bedroom” being more of just a nook where the bed happens to be.
Stylistically, it is very much consistent with the rest of the home, with clean lines and strip lights providing ambient light. They’ve also decided to add a line of strip lights beneath the bed that visually highlights the area below it. Along with hidden stilts, it provides a very modern, almost futuristic illusion of a suspended bed.

The bathroom is similarly done in the same all-black theme as the rest of the home, but with the black walls and the backlit lighting, the mirror bears an uncanny resemblance to an eclipse.
An all-black dark masculine condo reno
Dark, mysterious, yet suave and highly fashionable, the bold move to design an upscale bar within the dimensions of this condo seems to have definitely paid off. For those looking to bring a similar masculine swagger to their next reno design, you can definitely take a couple cues from this home.
