5 June 2025 | BY

These 6 HDB blocks in Singapore have gated lobbies that look so atas, you’d think they were private condos.

In Singapore, the average HDB resident usually feels safe enough in their dwellings without needing gated lobby access. But it remains an attractive feature, giving added security and peace of mind, or at least a means to help stop those pesky shoe thieves and door-to-door sales reps from pestering you and stuffing flyers in your gate.

Either way, here are 6 HDB blocks that come with gated lobbies for those looking for one.

Punggol Grove HDB

Starting off the list is the non-mature estate of Punggol, with Punggol Grove. Despite being in a relatively new estate, Punggol Grove provides plenty of what you’d want from a home, with a convenient 3-minute walk from both Punggol MRT station for travel and Waterway Point for your shopping needs.

The real draw of Punggol though would have to be the greenery, with the Punggol Waterway Park and even Coney Island Park nearby, making this place great for outdoorsy folk.

Siglap Lucky Valley

Another example of HDBs with gated lobbies is Siglap Lucky Valley. Having MOP-ed in 1983, this development was an earlier experiment in providing extra security features to HDBs. Its age does also mean that they’ll have larger home sizes for those looking for more real estate on which to apply their renovation plans.

This area used to be more isolated, but with the new Bayshore MRT station on the Thomson-East Coast Line, this vintage development now enjoys modern convenience and connectivity with the rest of Singapore. It is also right next to East Coast Park, which also means easy access to East Coast Lagoon Food Village and the famous JUMBO seafood restaurant.

Beside Siglap Lucky Valley is another set of blocks, this time located along Bedok South Ave 2. These were also part of the feasibility study by HDB to see if Singaporeans would like the idea of gated HDB blocks.

What it does offer over Siglap Lucky Valley, are amenities much closer to home. These come in the form of 2 parks, a basketball court, as well as a hawker centre.

Lakevista @ YuanChing Road

With the gorgeous Jurong Lake Gardens right beside it, life at Lakevista @ YuanChing Road promises great views and a perfect place to unwind from the bustle of modern living. That said, it is unfortunately one of the more secluded developments in this listing, necessitating a bus to get to the nearest MRT station.

As a silver lining though, you do get a strip mall along Yung Ho road, complete with fast food restaurants and facilities like a karaoke bar and bowling alley.

The Peak @ Toa Payoh

Relatively new and located in a mature estate rich in amenities, The Peak @ Toa Payoh is the most modern gated HDB development on the list and it comes with many modern comforts. For one, you’re only a short walking distance from both Toa Payoh and Braddell MRT stations.

Being close to Toa Payoh MRT station also means being close to Toa Payoh Hub, a town centre filled with shops, F&B joints, and even sports facilities. Living in The Peak means that you’ll likely satisfy most of your shopping and leisure needs without having to leave the neighbourhood.

Rounding out our list is City View @ Boon Keng. Living in a DBSS like this means you’d get to enjoy the attention given to the landscaping and amenities in the development itself, boasting plenty of greenery and playgrounds.

The 7-minute walk from Bendemeer MRT, alongside the fact that the city is only 24 minutes away via MRT, make it a rather attractive location in terms of giving easy access to work and leisure options.
