Even if you don’t identify as an anime fan, you’ll definitely have heard of the classic series that is Crayon Shinchan, a show that has been running for 32—longer than some of us has been alive. And as far as fans and fandoms go, this real life replica of Shinchan’s iconic red-and-white brick home has to take the cake for being the most impressive.

A dream turned reality by a 21-year-old fan in China, the home is the result of a year of meticulous planning and hard work. Beyond just wanting the home to look like the real deal, the owner has to track down Crayon Shinchan’s licensed agents in China to make sure that he wouldn’t be legally liable for any copyright issues. Just securing the rights to build alone took a total of 5 trips to Shanghai.

The house began construction mid-last year and was just recently unveiled. As expected, fans—and non-fans—alike have gathered to marvel at the real home’s uncanny resemblance to the one in the show.
According to reports from Record China, the ambitious fan funneled in more than half a million Singapore dollars into this project, transforming his family’s sheep farm into his literal dream home.

True to the anime, the house features vibrant green walls reminiscent of our favorite pandan cakes, complemented by similar wood trimmings. The attention to detail in the furniture and appliances, though not exact replicas of those in the show, beautifully captures a sense of childhood simplicity and nostalgia.
Low lying furniture matches the ones seen in the scenes of the Nohara family’s meals.

The pink bathroom from the anime, where Shinchan and his family often enjoy a soak, has been recreated in the exact same shades, evoking major nostalgia. The meticulously clean grout lines add a unique 2D effect, making the space feel like it’s straight out of the show.
