Tucked away in the heart of Woodlands, this 4-room resale HDB flat is a true reflection of its homeowners, Naufal and Sabrina. With a purchase price of $602K and a $58K renovation, the couple added their personal touch with custom furniture from their ID, bringing the total to around $70K.

The design concept? Eclectic, with random pops of colour that create an inviting, dynamic atmosphere. Drawing inspiration from everywhere such as Pinterest, visiting friends’ homes, and their favourite cafes, Naufal and Sabrina set out to create a space that felt uniquely theirs.

The result is a home that feels vibrant, cosy, and full of character, where every corner tells its own story.

Step into this resale flat and the first thing you’ll notice is the spacious, open layout. There are no partition walls between the kitchen and living area, creating a seamless flow that makes the space feel even bigger.

One standout feature in the kitchen is the vintage, void-deck-inspired blue-tiled island. It’s not just for show, the induction stove is built right into the island, flipping the traditional kitchen layout on its head.

According to the homeowners, this layout was recommended by their ID, and it makes cooking and entertaining so much more inclusive. People sitting at the dining table can easily chat with the cook, making it the perfect space for socialising.

“We knew from the start that we wanted a kitchen island, but we also wanted it to be functional — not just for meal prep. Our ID suggested placing the induction stove on the island, which turned out to be a great idea.”

As you move towards the living area, you’re immediately hit with natural light pouring in, illuminating the vibrant decor.

The style here feels slighty Indonesian-inspired, and it turns out the ID is indeed Indonesian. You can spot the influence in the wood-textured sofa, which features beautiful rounded armrests. The whole space is a celebration of earthy materials and thoughtful design, blending seamlessly to create a warm and welcoming environment.

Walking around, you can spot interesting knick-knacks like small shelves filled with trinkets, card games, vinyls, and all kinds of personal touches that give the space a playful, quirky charm.

Clever kitchen island storage & coffee-making area

This kitchen island isn’t just a pretty piece, it’s all about practicality. The homeowners requested shelves beneath it to store larger items like their rice cooker and chopping boards, keeping the kitchen free from clutter and looking sleek. With the extra built-in storage, the island serves as the perfect multi-functional space for cooking, prep, and storage.

While the exact cost isn’t available because it’s part of the full quote from their ID, they did spend time visiting places like Hap Kiong and Hafary to find the right tiles. What they landed on was bold blue tiles, reminiscent of the old HDB void decks where people would just “lepak” (hang out) and have a good time.

In the kitchen, you’ll spot a small service area that’s been transformed into a dedicated coffee and tea-making corner. “The coffee area has become one of our favourite spots in the house — practical, social, and always full of good vibes,” said Naufal.

Turns out both Naufal and Sabrina love brewing beverages, and it doubles as a cosy spot to hang out with friends when they come over.

Even the bedroom isn’t without added flair. The couple cleverly hides their clothes behind an L-shaped built-in red cabinet. It’s a seamless fit into the design while still being totally functional.

And despite all the bold pops of colour and quirky elements, the home remains light and airy, with natural sunlight flooding every room, including the bedroom.

When asked which room is their favourite, Sabrina and Naufal loudly proclaimed, “Our daughter’s room!” And as it turns out, mural artists were hired to transform the walls into a canvas of bright, fun designs, all chosen by their daughter.

The space is a lively tribute to her creative spirit, filled with rainbows, flowers, and shapes. They love how it has become her personal space to play, create, and just be herself. The room is as cheerful as she is, making it a perfect place for their little one to grow and express herself.

Next, we explored the bathroom, and it immediately struck us with its rich, darker tones, a change in vibe from the rest of the house but still fitting in perfectly with the overall design.

The deep-coloured tiles aren’t just about aesthetics, though. They’re a practical choice, as darker tiles are less likely to show stains and grime, which is always a win in a high-traffic area like the bathroom. Plus, the larger tiles mean less grout, which equals less cleaning and less dirt buildup, because let’s face it, nobody enjoys scrubbing grout lines.

Embracing the quirky & unique

Suffice to say, Naufal and Sabrina’s home is nothing short of an eclectic playground, where they embrace the quirky and the unusual. For instance, they’ve turned their passion for sustainable living into action by growing their own edible plants. During our visit, we spotted a hydroponic system where they were growing fresh basil; not just a unique touch, but a practical one too.

Above their main door, as though to guide the way, hangs a vintage SEIKO clock. It’s not just telling time; it’s adding to the home’s playful charm, with a look that echoes old-school designs but fits right into this modern space.

But perhaps the most interesting feature we came across are the long automated tubes that can hide itself scattered throughout the living area. These unassuming structures are not just stylish but incredibly functional.

Each one combines power sockets, USB sockets, a wireless charging area on top, and a Bluetooth speaker all in one. The couple wanted something innovative, and their ID did not disappoint. They found the perfect solution and installed these high-tech multi-purpose tubes to keep things both practical and chic.

From plant-growing systems to futuristic tech, Naufal and Sabrina’s home is anything but ordinary. It’s a vibrant, eclectic space that reflects their personalities and love for trying something a little different.

Best of all, everything continues to work just as well as it looks, proving that good design doesn’t have to sacrifice practicality. When asked if they had any renovation regrets, the couple simply laughed and said they had none, a pretty good sign that this home turned out exactly as they’d hoped.

A cosy 4-room eclectic resale home

From the void-deck inspired kitchen island to the playful pops of colour scattered throughout, this is a home that refuses to be boxed in by any single idea. Naufal and Sabrina have truly embraced a design that’s as unique as they are.

They’ve found the perfect balance between showcasing their vibrant personalities and creating a space that feels cosy and inviting, one where every corner tells a story. It’s not just a house; it’s a reflection of who they are, with room for creativity, comfort, and a little bit of fun.
